Snake Catcher Dural

Dural’s combination of larger blocks, working properties and landscaped gardens means a sighting may occur well away from the main house or beside a shed, dam, stable or stored materials.

When calling from Dural, explain whether the animal is indoors or outside, whether it remains visible, and whether children, pets, customers, livestock or workers are nearby. Harley can then assess the immediate risk and the safest access.

Around Dural, acreage blocks, Old Northern Road properties, nurseries, dams and drainage lines, large gardens and horse areas and sheds can create several possible routes and shelter points. Leave those places undisturbed after the snake moves out of sight.

For acreage and semi-rural attendances, identify the safest gate, nearest building and any livestock or machinery before Harley arrives.

• acreage blocks: Pause gardening, storage or maintenance work around acreage blocks after a sighting.
• Old Northern Road properties: Where Old Northern Road properties is shared, ask one person to control access and another to meet Harley.
• nurseries: Keep people and pets away from nurseries until the sighting has been assessed.
• dams and drainage lines: Identify the safest gate, path or building entrance leading toward dams and drainage lines without approaching the animal.
• large gardens: Use large gardens as a landmark when explaining the last known position; do not move closer to inspect it.
• horse areas and sheds: Tell Harley whether horse areas and sheds is open, enclosed, elevated or difficult to access from the street.

A sighting does not establish that there is a nest or more than one snake. Avoid assumptions about species, numbers or where the animal has gone; preserve the last reliable observation instead.

• Avoid approaching from either side, particularly around acreage blocks.
• Move bystanders away from the Dural sighting without creating a crowd.
• Keep visual contact only while you can remain on stable, open ground.
• Never touch, trap, corner, poke or attempt to kill the snake.
• If someone may have been bitten, call Triple Zero (000) immediately and follow the operator’s instructions.
