Arcadia sightings may be beside a creek, paddock or farm building rather than near the street. Secure animals without approaching the snake and note a clear property landmark.

When calling from Arcadia, explain whether the animal is indoors or outside, whether it remains visible, and whether children, pets, customers, livestock or workers are nearby. Harley can then assess the immediate risk and the safest access.

Because Arcadia includes rural lanes, bushland boundaries, horse paddocks, creeks, dams and farm sheds, a short description of gates, levels, shared access and nearby people or animals helps Harley plan the attendance.

For acreage and semi-rural attendances, identify the safest gate, nearest building and any livestock or machinery before Harley arrives.

• rural lanes: Identify the safest gate, path or building entrance leading toward rural lanes without approaching the animal.
• bushland boundaries: Keep people and pets away from bushland boundaries until the sighting has been assessed.
• horse paddocks: Where horse paddocks is shared, ask one person to control access and another to meet Harley.
• creeks: Pause gardening, storage or maintenance work around creeks after a sighting.
• dams: If the snake travels toward dams, note which side it entered and leave the area undisturbed.
• farm sheds: Do not place hands, tools or cameras into gaps around farm sheds; report only what you can see safely.

A sighting does not establish that there is a nest or more than one snake. Avoid assumptions about species, numbers or where the animal has gone; preserve the last reliable observation instead.

• Stop activity near rural lanes and move away on a clear path.
• Close internal doors only when that can be done without moving toward the snake.
• Note its direction of travel rather than following it through vegetation or storage.
• Leave sheds, wall gaps and vegetation undisturbed once the snake disappears.
• If someone may have been bitten, call Triple Zero (000) immediately and follow the operator’s instructions.
