Snake Catcher Illawong

Illawong homes may have multiple levels between the street and river. Explain the safest access route and do not follow a snake down a slope.

When calling from Illawong, explain whether the animal is indoors or outside, whether it remains visible, and whether children, pets, customers, livestock or workers are nearby. Harley can then assess the immediate risk and the safest access.

• bush reserves: Pause gardening, storage or maintenance work around bush reserves after a sighting.
• sloping blocks: Identify the safest gate, path or building entrance leading toward sloping blocks without approaching the animal.
• pools: Keep people and pets away from pools until the sighting has been assessed.
• decks: Tell Harley whether decks is open, enclosed, elevated or difficult to access from the street.
• rock walls: Use rock walls as a landmark when explaining the last known position; do not move closer to inspect it.

A sighting does not establish that there is a nest or more than one snake. Avoid assumptions about species, numbers or where the animal has gone; preserve the last reliable observation instead.

• Stop activity near Georges River frontage and move away on a clear path.
• Keep pets restrained indoors and prevent access to bush reserves.

• Avoid home-made traps and never block the snake inside a confined corner.
