Snake Catcher Avalon

Avalon properties often combine dense vegetation, rockwork and several outdoor levels. Watch from a clear position rather than following a snake through garden cover.

When calling from Avalon, explain whether the animal is indoors or outside, whether it remains visible, and whether children, pets, customers, livestock or workers are nearby. Harley can then assess the immediate risk and the safest access.

The local mix of coastal gardens, bush-backed blocks, retaining walls, sheds, pool surrounds and Pittwater-side reserves means Harley may need directions to a side gate, common area or outbuilding rather than only a street address.

Coastal bushland, rock shelves and dense gardens can limit visibility; watch only from a clear, stable position.

• coastal gardens: Tell Harley whether coastal gardens is open, enclosed, elevated or difficult to access from the street.
• bush-backed blocks: Use bush-backed blocks as a landmark when explaining the last known position; do not move closer to inspect it.
• retaining walls: If the snake travels toward retaining walls, note which side it entered and leave the area undisturbed.
• sheds: Do not place hands, tools or cameras into gaps around sheds; report only what you can see safely.
• pool surrounds: Where pool surrounds is shared, ask one person to control access and another to meet Harley.
• Pittwater-side reserves: Pause gardening, storage or maintenance work around Pittwater-side reserves after a sighting.

A sighting does not establish that there is a nest or more than one snake. Avoid assumptions about species, numbers or where the animal has gone; preserve the last reliable observation instead.

• Stop activity near coastal gardens and move away on a clear path.
• Bring children and pets inside, or move them to another secure part of the Avalon property.
• Tell Harley whether it moved toward bush-backed blocks or away from the property.
• Leave sheds, wall gaps and vegetation undisturbed once the snake disappears.
• If someone may have been bitten, call Triple Zero (000) immediately and follow the operator’s instructions.
