Acreage call-outs need property-specific planning

Semi-rural blocks can include dams, stables, paddocks, poultry, feed rooms, machinery sheds, nurseries and long access routes. Tell Harley about gates, animals, workers and the safest way to reach the sighting area.

Do not walk through long grass, move hay or feed bags, lift timber or search beneath machinery. Isolate people and animals from the area and retain a safe visual reference only when possible.

Why rural property features matter

Water, rodents, poultry, feed, mulch, timber, sheds and bushland edges may provide prey or shelter. Snakes may be seen around horse areas, chicken coops, landscaping materials, dams and older structures.

Acreage maintenance can improve visibility and reduce some shelter, but native wildlife will still move through suitable habitat. Professional removal should focus on the immediate animal and lawful relocation.

Stables and feed rooms

Hay, feed, rodents, equipment and animals that need to be kept away from the sighting.

Paddocks and dams

Long grass, water edges, fences and open areas where searching on foot is unsafe.

Machinery sheds

Vehicles, timber, metal, tools and materials that should not be moved during a search.

Poultry and nurseries

Coops, plant stock, mulch, irrigation and storage that can conceal movement.

Practical response on a large property

Give Harley usable directions before entering paddocks or remote parts of the block.

  • Move people, pets and livestock away from the immediate area.
  • Do not enter long grass or shift feed, hay, timber or equipment.
  • Stop machinery and vehicle movement near the sighting.
  • Prepare gate, driveway and landmark directions from a safe place.
  • Call Harley with the last location and any animal or access hazards.

Access details save time and confusion

Provide the property entrance, gate code if applicable, nearest landmark and a phone contact who can meet Harley safely. Mention dogs, horses, poultry, electric fences and difficult vehicle access.

If the animal moves into a dam edge, dense vegetation or stored materials, do not pursue it. Capture cannot be guaranteed after a snake leaves or becomes inaccessible.

Professional reptile capture and relocation

NSW catch-and-release work requires the appropriate wildlife licence. Harley operates under NSW General Licence MWL000102655, uses specialist handling equipment and focuses on safe, lawful and humane relocation.

A call-out cannot guarantee capture if the animal has already left or cannot be located. Harley will give straightforward advice based on the site and last known position.
