Snake nearby? Stay calm and follow these steps
Do not move the item it disappeared behind
A garage or shed becomes risky when people begin lifting boxes, timber, feed bags or machinery to find a hidden snake. Hands and feet can enter a concealed space before the animal is seen.
Leave stored items where they are. Close the external area only if that can be done without approaching the snake, and prevent anyone from entering until you have spoken with Harley.
Why storage areas provide cover
Gaps beneath doors, warm concrete, rodents, cardboard, timber, potting mix, pool equipment, feed, shelving and quiet corners can create temporary shelter.
If a vehicle is inside, do not crawl beneath it or search the engine area. Tell Harley where the snake was last seen and whether machinery, chemicals or restricted access affect the space.

Keep the space undisturbed. An accurate last sighting is safer than trying to flush the snake out.
- Stop people from entering or moving stored items.
- Keep children, pets and workers away from the doorway.
- Do not start a vehicle or operate nearby machinery.
- Observe from outside only when there is a safe view.
- Call Harley with access details and the last known position.
Prepare access, not the hiding place
Unlock a safe external gate or describe the driveway, but do not clear a path through the suspected area. Mention tight spaces, chemicals, electrical equipment and any animals kept nearby.
Afterwards, sealing door gaps, controlling rodents and raising stored materials can improve visibility and reduce shelter. It cannot guarantee that a snake will never enter.
